My
name is Edina Köves. I am the founder of Budavári Dance
School. Dance has been a part of my life since my childhood.
My mother was a dancer and I first experienced the joy
of dancing through her nurturing.
Let me begin
with a few short words about my personal dance background:
I first started with rhythmical gymnastics at Spartacus
Sport Club as a student of Marika Domján when I
was just six years old. A few years later I began
dancing with the children’s group of Talentum Ensemble.
I graduated from Talentum Dance and Musical Art
Vocational School and after graduation I became
a member of the Ensemble’s professional dance group.
While a professional, I had the benefit of great
masters such as Lia Rábai Miklósné, Éva Matetics
and Tibor Somogyi. Thanks to them, during this period
I gained a broad variety of experience with all
kinds of dance from ballet, to folk, to modern dance.

I paused my professional
dance career in 1999 to earn my Degree in Faculty
of Arts at the University of Pécs. In 2007, I
earned my Master’s Degree in Veszprém at the University
of Pannon.
Based on the wealth of experience
I have been fortunate to gain in all aspects of
dance over the last 25 years, I have come to know
how important it is that people, and especially
children, get in touch with sports early and practice
them regularly.
This is why I chose 9 years ago to professionally
dedicate myself to teaching dance to children.
Today I am a mother of two
girls of my own. Every day I personally witness
the tremendous advantages that children have in
all aspects of life when they are encouraged to
practice and enjoy daily physical exercise from
a young age through dance!

Description
of the lessons
First part of each lesson: Ballet
Foundations
Lessons begin with a wide variety of ballet exercises
that help children to develop their muscles, increase
endurance, improve the flexibility of joints, and
develop graceful and sophisticated movement patterns.
The aim is the improvement of the child’s posture,
flexibility, sense of balance, and rhythm.
Second part of each lesson: Musical Dance
This portion of the class focuses on the elements
of theatrical dance. The child learns the conscious
use of their body to move gracefully through space.
Performance skills are honed with linked dance movements
through the study of various choreographies.
We frequently use games and other fun techniques
in our teaching process. Our focus is always on
making the study of steps and dances a joyful and
memorable experience for your child!
(The curriculum is flexible and can be adjusted
depending upon a child’s age, maturity, and level
of experience.)
